STOP THE VIOLENCE EVENT
Third and Knox Church are dedicated to working with the local District 3 police to create a powerful presence in the neighborhood in order to help all involved in the East Westwood Community reduce and prevent violence, especially that which directly impacts the safety of the children. As you know, the Youth Center at Third Church is such a special safe-haven in the neighborhood; a place that provides solid development of positive character, sportsmanship, hope, and joy. With the addition of Praise God Park and the Community Garden more than ever it is a place where youth and families gather after school and on weekends. Therefore, it is vital that this area remain a “safe-space.”

REC CENTER REOPENING GUIDELINES
Third Church Recreation Center reopened for outside activities starting Monday, May 3. The hours are M-F 3:30-7:30 PM and 1:00-7:30 PM Saturdays. Children get to play in the newly built outdoor basketball court and playground which were inaugurated in Fall 2020. The staff are all vaccinated and appropriate hygiene guidelines are followed when children use the facilities. Programs and activities will be gradually ramped up over the coming weeks. All activity will be outdoors during the warm weather months. There will be tents outside to provide shelter from sun and rain. Staff and Volunteers will support activities in the coming weeks – like games, crafts, reading and gardening. Please take a drive to Third (3358 McHenry Avenue) to see the new facilities and get a feel for the activities and start to think about how you and your kids can engage in the coming months.
